Dick's Stock Watch identifies whose stock is up and whose is down over the past week across the world of sports.
STOCK UP: Louisville, Michigan, Trail Blazers, Jets
Louisville Cardinals -- We gotta go to Louisville, the home of Papa John's Pizza and the home of Rick Pitino and the Cardinals. What a job he did against his former school, Kentucky. It was Blowout City, 81-63! Mr. Pitino was jubilant and the UL fans were on cloud nine after beating the Wildcats. The Cardinals out started slowly but responded in big-time fashion.
Michigan Wolverines -- How about Tommy Amaker and the Wolverines? They were 0-6 and everyone was screaming that the program was in disarray, but now they have won five in a row and turned the corner. When Tommy gets his own players in Ann Arbor, watch out for Michigan!
Portland Trail Blazers -- It's the the Trail Blazers, not the Jail Blazers! They beat the Sacramento Kings, who had won seven in a row, and Mo Cheeks and company are playing well and living up to their potential.
New York Jets -- What a job Herman Edwards and his team did in beating Brett Favre and the Packers and getting into the playoffs! Who would have thought it after they started the year 2-5?
STOCK DOWN: UCLA, Nuggets, Nebraska, Saints
UCLA Bruins -- Who would have believed that UCLA would lose at home to San Diego, Northern Arizona and Michigan and be 2-5 right now. I know one thing: I would be nervous if I were Steve Lavin, because new athletic director Dan Guerrero wasted no time pulling the trigger on the firing of former football coach Bob Toledo. It has to be nerve-wracking rght now in Westwood!
Denver Nuggets -- This is an NBA team? Are you serious?!?! They've lost 10 in a row and I don't know if they could beat some of the best college teams out there.
Nebraska Cornhuskers -- Who would ever believe the numbers 7-7 in the won-loss column for the 'Huskers? That marks the first non-winning season in Lincoln in 41 years! They break even, but it's been a long time since they were there.
New Orleans Saints -- Can you believe that Jim Haslett's team was 9-4 and then went into another late-season slide? They lost to the Vikings, Bengals and Panthers while they were fighting for a playoff spot. Are you serious?!?! That's not the Raiders, man!
