STOCK UP: Mavs, 'Canes, Rams, Maddox, Vick
The Dallas Mavericks are off to a great start, opening 6-0. Forward Dirk Nowitzki is a player to watch this season.
You have to give coach Larry Coker and his Miami Hurricanes a lot of credit. Some figured that Miami would have a real battle in Knoxville, but the Hurricanes were impressive against Tennessee. QB Ken Dorsey is a lock for the Heisman, in my book.
QB Marc Bulger and the St. Louis Rams rallied to win over the San Diego Chargers. Bulger completed 36-of-48 passes for 453 yards, including three touchdown tosses to WR Isaac Bruce. It will be interesting to see what coach Mike Martz's QB decision will be when Kurt Warner is healthy: Warner or Bulger?
Give credit to Tommy Maddox and Michael Vick for great performances in the overtime thriller in the Steel City between the Atlanta Falcons and Pittsburgh Steelers (they tied 34-34).
STOCK DOWN: Lakers, Grizzlies, Oregon secondary, Virginia Tech
The Los Angeles Lakers are 2-5, but we have to wait and see what the team does when Shaquille O'Neal returns from his toe injury.
With guys like Pau Gasol, Drew Gooden, Jason Williams and Shane Battier, the Memphis Grizzlies should be better than 0-7.
I would love to have a shot to play quarterback against the Oregon secondary. They give up tons of yards each game. The Ducks' defense makes every quarterback look like a Heisman Trophy candidate.
Forget about the BCS for Virginia Tech. First it was Pittsburgh upsetting the Hokies. Then Syracuse scored a Shock City upset Saturday.
