Dick Vitale will be the subject of a roast on Thursday night at the Joyce Center on the campus of Notre Dame. The event will benefit the Life Treatment Centers of South Bend, Indiana. The evening begins with a reception at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 and the roast at 7:30 (all local time).

ESPN's Digger Phelps, Notre Dame men's basketball coach Mike Brey, Notre Dame's women's basketball coach Muffet McGraw, New York Liberty coach Richie Adubato and USA Today's Rudy Martzke are among the guests who will roast Dickie V.

Among those sending their barbs on tape are Texas Tech coach Bob Knight, Louisville coach Rick Pitino and Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski, plus ESPN personalities Chris Berman, Stuart Scott, Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic, Tony Kornheiser and Mike Wilbon, John Saunders, Joe Theismann and Mike Tirico.

"Any time that I can lend my name to help raise dollars for a worthy cause, it excites me," Vitale said. "The Life Treatment Centers in South Bend receive great support from the Notre Dame family. I'm looking forward to having my buddies take their best shots at me.

"It's for a great cause, as the dollars go to people who are battling daily to solve their problems with the drug and alcohol scene."

"Over the years, I've been roasted for several groups, including my alma mater, Seton Hall, the Jimmy V Foundation, and the University of Detroit athletic program," Vitale added. "Believe me, they have been nights filled with lots of laughter."
