You have to give credit to the supporting cast of the Los Angeles Lakers for their performance in Game 7 on the road vs. the Sacramento Kings. Yes, Shaq and Kobe each played over 50 minutes and came through big. But guys like Rick Fox, Robert Horry and Derek Fisher made a number of big plays. Fox had a great game -- scoring, rebounding, passing and playing solid defense. Shaq and Kobe certainly are special players, and L.A. will be tough for the Nets to beat in the NBA Finals.

Give the New Jersey Nets credit for getting past the Boston Celtics in the East. Coach Byron Scott, GM Rod Thorn, point guard Jason Kidd and company have enjoyed a super season.

I also don't know that much about hockey ... the red lines, blue lines and all. I do know that the defending Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche didn't want to go out 7-0 in Game 7. Give the Detroit Red Wings credit; coach Scotty Bowman's team takes on the Carolina Hurricanes in the finals.

I don't know much about soccer, but I do know when you win 8-0, that's like 90-0 in football, baby! Germany beat Saudi Arabia 8-0 on Saturday, with a number of brilliant goals in the rout.

Jose Canseco and Ken Caminiti made recent statements about steroids that basically indicted all of baseball. Come on, if you want to really make a statement, name names instead of putting a black mark on every baseball player. Fans and the media will question players now, and that isn't fair to the players who work hard and build themselves up legitimately.

The Chicago White Sox have lost seven straight games to fall 3½ games behind in the AL Central. Manager Jerry Manuel's team has too much talent -- with Frank Thomas, Kenny Lofton, Paul Konerko, Magglio Ordonez -- to lose seven straight, baby!

The San Francisco Giants visit Yankee Stadium later this week as interleague play gets under way. The Giants have struggled lately, though they did win Sunday night over the Colorado Rockies. San Francisco is 4-9 in its last 13 games.

Then there is Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario -- hey, I want to play her right now! She won just one game in losing in straight sets in the first round of the French Open. Maybe it's time for her to retire.
