March 16
The first round of the NCAA Tournament was everything college basketball fans could have hoped for. Kent State is for real and UNC-Wilmington looked impressive. Expect more thrills, and maybe more upsets, as the second round begins.
Here's a quick look at each of Saturday's games by region (listed with the earliest games first; all times are Eastern):

| The Carlos Boozer-Ryan Humphrey matchup will be something to see.

SOUTH REGION
(1) Duke vs. (8) Notre Dame, 1:10 p.m.: Wow! What an interesting match up, as former Blue Devil assistant Mike Brey goes up against his former boss Coach K. Can diaper dandy Chris Thomas perform under pressure against Jason Williams and Chris Duhon in the backcourt? I can't wait for the matchup up front between Carlos Boozer and Ryan Humphrey. It will be a physical contest -- whomever can stay out of foul trouble will be a big key.
(2) Alabama vs. (10) Kent State 3:36 p.m.: Hey Crimson Tide, watch out! Florida Atlantic almost sent you to the sidelines, and this Kent State team is for real. Stan Heath is my diaper dandy of coaches. I said it before and I'll say it again -- the highly underrated Mid-American Conference is the real deal.
(5) Indiana vs. (13) UNC-Willmington, 7:56 p.m.: I was really impressed by Jerry Wainwright's team in overtime against USC. The Seahawks could have folded up after the Trojan's rallied to send the game into OT baby. It will be key for the Seahawks to stop the Hoosiers long-range shooting led by Tom Coverdale -- his performace against Utah was huge.
WEST REGION
(12) Missouri vs. (4) Ohio State, 3:20 p.m.: The Buckeyes need more support for Brian Brown who was super, scintillating, and sensational with 33 points in their opening win against Davidson. I can't understand why Quinn Snyder has been so maligned this season -- for Missouri it was expectation, expectation, expectation. And the Tigers can live up to that billing now.
(11) Wyoming vs. (3) Arizona, 5:50 p.m.: Okay, be honest. How many of you thought this would be Arizona vs. Gonzaga? Give Josh Davis, Marcus Bailey and the Cowboys some credit. But can they do it again against Luke Walton, Jason Gardner and the rest of the Wildcats?
MIDWEST REGION
(7) Wake Forest vs. (2) Oregon, 5:30 p.m.: The Ducks have the two Lukes -- Ridnour and Jackson -- plus high-riser Fredrick Jones. This will be a test if Josh Howard and Darius Songaila perform inside. Craig Dawson was a key factor against Pepperdine from the trifecta. Skip Prosser needs him to come through again if Wake is to pull off upset city.
(1) Kansas vs. (8) Stanford, 8:04 p.m.:
The Jayhawks may be without Kirk Hinrich because of his injured ankle, but Roy Williams' team has a ton of talent. Nick Collison has to step up after struggling against Holy Cross. Drew Gooden will be ready to play. Can Kansas contain Curtis Borchert?
EAST REGION
(12) Tulsa vs. (4) Kentucky, 5:38 p.m.:
Tubby Smith goes up against his former employer and the Golden Hurricane has several experienced weapons - guys who've experienced success in the post season. Keith Bogans played up to his potential in the opening round against Valpo, after being held to 13 points or less in his prior 10 games. Watch out for the Wildcats -- they have the potential to cause trouble for Maryland in the Sweet 16 if they get past Tulsa.
