Dick's Stock Watch identifies whose stock is up and whose is down over the past week across the world of sports.
STOCK UP: Oregon, Pitino, Trail Blazers
What about the job done by Oregon in winning the Pac-10 regular-season title! Coach Ernie Kent's club has been outstanding, as shown last week in wins at USC and UCLA. The Ducks have the Cool Hand Lukes -- Luke Ridnour and Luke Jackson -- as well as Frederick Jones and Chris Christoffersen leading the way.
Remember, Oregon has gotten it done in both football and basketball this school year. Joey Harrington and company dominated the Pac-10 on the gridiron this past fall. There's a lot of excitement in Eugene these days, baby!
A salute to my guy, Rick Pitino! His Louisville team beat Cincinnati and a tough Charlotte team last week. Wait until Ricky P gets his players in. John Calipari and Bobby Huggins, watch out for the Cardinals!
The Portland Trail Blazers have really turned things around. Coach Maurice Cheeks' team has won nine straight. Rasheed Wallace isn't getting as many technicals these days, and that helps.
STOCK DOWN: Kobe-Reggie, Raptors, Thornton
Kobe Bryant and Reggie Miller should be more concerned about shooting the rock instead of fighting. What was that all about Friday night? These guys are All-Stars and they are only hurting their teams by getting suspended.
What has happened to the Toronto Raptors? Coach Lenny Wilkens' team has dropped 11 in a row. It's hard to believe a team with that much talent can't get a W.
I don't know much about hockey, blue lines, red lines, etc. But I do know that putting a stick in a guy's face is a no-no, and Boston Bruins star Joe Thornton got a three-game suspension for his actions against Carolina last week.
