When I think of this week's ACC/Big Ten Challenge, a number of key questions come to mind about these marquee matchups...
INDIANA vs. NORTH CAROLINA (Wednesday, 9 p.m. ET, ESPN)
1. How will Tar Heels' fans respond if North Carolina falls behind early?
Life has been rough at the Dean Smith Center this season, with losses to Hampton and Davidson.
2. Will Mike Davis' Hoosiers be fatigued after the trip to Anchorage?
Indiana did win two out of three games in the Great Alaska Shootout, with one loss a one-point defeat against eventual champion Marquette.
3. Who will step up for the Tar Heels as a threat from the perimeter?
North Carolina needs more consistent outside shooting to succeed.
4. Who will win the battle between UNC's Jason Capel and Indiana's Jared Jeffries?
These two stars should be ready for battle.
MICHIGAN STATE vs. VIRGINIA (Wednesday, 7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN2)
1. Can Tom Izzo's kids respond after two tough losses in the Preseason NIT?
Michigan State needs to come out with positive energy against a tough, experienced opponent.
2. Will Virginia utilize its high-octane offensive tempo?
Pete Gillen's team would like to get out and run in transition when possible.
3. How will Cavs point guard Roger Mason fare against top-caliber competition?
Mason hasn't been tested so far, so Spartans point guard Marcus Taylor will provide an interesting matchup.
4. Will Spartans freshman Kelvin Torbert break out?
Torbert has been billed as one of the top five diaper dandies in America. He has had trouble adjusting so far, but it's early.
