It's time to give out the hardware, baby! It's awards time, a chance to honor my Coach of the Year, Diaper Dandy of the Year and my Elite Eight players. I also break down the top players and coaches by conference.
Coach of the Year
For my national Coach of the Year, let's go up to Chestnut Hill, Mass. The Conte Forum has been rocking and rolling as Boston College has stunned the Big East. The Eagles won their division, a great turnaround for a team that went 11-19 last season. Al Skinner deserves a lot of credit for getting the job done, earning my Dickie V award for sideline success, baby!

| Super soph Jameer Nelson combines with Marvin O'Connor to give St. Joseph's one of the nation's top backcourts. |
Elite Eight Players
Previously, I named Shane Battier as my national Player of the Year. He leads off my Elite Eight, joining Duke teammate Jason Williams, North Carolina's Joseph Forte, Stanford's Casey Jacobsen, Notre Dame's Troy Murphy, Michigan State's Jason Richardson, Villanova's Michael Bradley and Iowa State's Jamaal Tinsley.
Diaper Dandy of the Year
My Diaper Dandy of the Year did not get much national publicity among the big-name freshmen earlier this season. While Eddie Griffin of Seton Hall and Omar Cook of St. John's dominated the headlines, the award goes to Jameer Nelson of St. Joseph's. The point guard has shown tremendous leadership in helping Phil Martelli's squad capture the Atlantic 10 regular-season championship.
Elite Eight Diaper Dandies
Jameer Nelson headlines my All-Diaper Dandy Elite Eight. Joining the St. Joe's guard are Seton Hall's Eddie Griffin, Charlotte's Rodney White, Indiana's Jared Jeffries, Fresno State's Tito Maddox, Michigan State's Zach Randolph, Connecticut's Caron Butler and Omar Cook of St. John's.
Awards in the Super Seven Conferences
Now for my choices for Player and Coach of the Year in the super seven conferences:
ACC
Player: Shane Battier, Duke
Coach: Paul Hewitt, Georgia Tech
Hewitt gets the nod over Matt Doherty and Pete Gillen. The Yellow Jackets deserve to be in the big dance, and most people wouldn't have predicted that before this season.
A-10
Player: David West, Xavier
Coach: Phil Martelli, St. Joseph's
A real toss-up between West and Marvin O'Connor of St. Joseph's.
BIG EAST
Player: Troy Murphy, Notre Dame
Coach: Al Skinner, Boston College
Murphy, Troy Bell and Michael Bradley were all unanimous first-team league choices. Murphy still gets the nod here.
BIG TEN
Player: Jason Richardson, Michigan State
Coach: Bill Self, Illinois
Tough call with Richardson over Frank Williams of Illinois. Self gets the nod over Tom Izzo, who lost Mateen Cleaves and Morris Peterson but still built a top-five team.
BIG 12
Player: Jamaal Tinsley, Iowa State
Coach: Larry Eustachy, Iowa State
The Cyclones won the league regular-season championship and sweep these categories too.
PAC-10
Player: Casey Jacobsen, Stanford
Coach: Steve Lavin, UCLA
I picked Lavin for the job done despite tremendous adversity and pressure.
SEC
Player: Brett Nelson, Florida
Coach: Rod Barnes, Mississippi
Two difficult choices. Nelson over Tayshaun Prince of Kentucky and Barnes over Billy Donovan of Florida. Close calls in both cases.
