Out in the Pac-10, a lot of attention has been paid to Arizona. USC has been impressive early and you have to give credit to Henry Bibby for getting it done. Sam Clancy has been a PTP'er, as has Brian Scalabrine. The Trojans will be even stronger if they get Jeff Trepagnier back in the lineup. A lot has been said about UCLA's struggles.

| Casey Jacobsen is still honing his skills, but is clearly the leader of the Cardinal as a junior. |
But two teams which have started fast and received little publicity are Stanford and Oregon. Yes, the Cardinal team is ranked among the nation's best, but when talking about the top teams, you hear Duke, Michigan State and Arizona mentioned often. How about a salute to Mike Montgomery!
Stanford has a lot of weapons. I love Casey Jacobsen, the super soph who can do it all. Montgomery has the inside game with the Collins twins -- Jarron and Jason keep getting better and better. Two players who quietly make a difference are Ryan Mendez and Mike McDonald. Mendez scored 22 points in Stanford's last win, a victory over Long Beach State.
The big test for the Cardinal will come on December 21st against the Dukies. So far, all six Stanford wins have come by double figures.
Oregon is 5-0 for just the second time in the last 26 years. Ernie Kent does a super job with the Ducks and remember, this team lost several key members from last year's NCAA squad. What a heartbreaker Oregon suffered in the tourney last season.
The Ducks are averaging 85 points a game and have several explosive players to watch. Keep an eye on Bryan Bracey and Frederick Jones, two PTPers off to solid starts.
