SPECIAL TO ESPN.COM

PLAYER OF THE WEEK:Darren Collison, UCLA

He came through in a pair of road wins. The guard scored a career-high 33 points against Oregon State and 22 versus the Ducks of Oregon. He also hit 16-of-26 field goals, had nine assists with just two turnovers, and converted all 19 of his free throw attempts in those wins.

COACH OF THE WEEK: Jim Calhoun, Connecticut

There is a reason he is a Hall of Famer. He sent a message loud and clear, disciplining two key players -- starting guard Jerome Dyson and reserve guard Doug Wiggins. They were suspended, but the Huskies still went into Bloomington, Indiana and upset the eighth-ranked Hoosiers. Earlier in the week, Connecticut won a road game against an improved Cincinnati club.

TEAM OF THE WEEK:Rutgers

What a week for coach Fred Hill and the Scarlet Knights. Rutgers started the week winless in Big East play, but things turned around. First came a victory over a Villanova team that entered the contest ranked No. 18 in America. Rutgers then came through with a convincing shocker at Pittsburgh. My friends, it is not easy to get a W at the Petersen Events Center.

DIAPER DANDY OF THE WEEK: Kevin Love, UCLA

His return to the state of Oregon, where he starred in high school, was impressive. He had 26 points and 18 boards against the Oregon Ducks. Then Love put up 16 points and 21 rebounds against Oregon State.

SHOCK OF THE WEEK:Richmond over Dayton

It was a tough week for Dayton. After losing to Xavier, the Flyers had a tough time in Richmond. The Spiders led by as many as 25 points in rolling to an 80-63 win. Richmond led almost the entire game in beating their first ranked opponent at home in 18 years.
