Friday Awards

SPECIAL TO ESPN.COM

The second day of the NCAA tournament had some interesting results. It is time to dole out some awards:

CO-PLAYER OF THE DAY: Stephen Curry, Davidson and Jack McClinton, Miami
In a day with numerous outstanding individual performances, these two excelled in the second half of wins when their teams needed them.

Curry had 30 of his 40 points in the second half in a win over Gonzaga. Davidson rallied from a double-digit deficit in the first half as Curry hit eight-of-10 trifectas in the win.

McClinton had six points at halftime as Miami trailed St. Mary's. The All-ACC performer netted 32 second-half points.

WOW!

TEAM OF THE DAY: Siena
The Saints came marching into Tampa, capital of Cinderellas. Fran McCaffery's team dominated a talented Vanderbilt squad, pulling away in a 83-62 stunner. Shan Foster's college career came to a crashing halt, thanks to the MAAC-member Saints.

SHOCK OF THE DAY: San Diego over Connecticut
The Huskies were a No. 4 seed, but that didn't seem to matter to the Toreros. Bill Grier's squad scored a major surprise to save face for the WCC, which lost Gonzaga and St. Mary's from the field earlier in the day.

COACH OF THE DAY: Jay Wright, Villanova
His Wildcats trailed 36-18 in the first half. Instead of walking away with an L, Villanova fought back to get to the winner's circle over a Clemson team that impressed me at the ACC tournament last week.
