•Vikings running back Adrian Peterson set an NFL record with 296 rushing yards in a win over the Chargers.
•Drew Brees threw for 445 yards against the Jaguars.
•Oregon's Dennis Dixon showed why he's a legitimate Heisman contender with a strong showing during a win over previously-unbeaten Arizona State.
•Kansas put up 76 points against Nebraska and it wasn't a basketball game. It was on the gridiron, my friends!
•Joe Calzaghe won his 44th straight fight to help unify the super middleweight championship.
STOCK DOWN
•The Broncos were beaten badly by the Lions, 44-7.
•Boston College was upset at home by Florida State.
•Notre Dame fell to 1-8, losing to Navy for the first time since 1963.
•Martina Hingis announced her retirement after being accused of failing a drug test.
