USC routs Nebraska

SPECIAL TO ESPN.COM

September 17, 2007 | Dick's Stock Watch provides a fast-glance review of the past week in the world of sports, charting whose stock is up and whose is down.

STOCK UP
• Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan threw for a career-high 435 yards in an upset win over Georgia Tech. The Eagles are now 3-0 in ACC play.

• USC won at Nebraska and put up 49 points on the board.

• Look at the talent in the state of Florida. The Gators blew out Tennessee. Central Florida gave Texas a scare. Florida Atlantic beat Minnesota of the Big Ten. South Florida beat Auburn last week.

• Mike Bellotti of Oregon, Jim Tressel of Ohio State and Frank Beamer of Virginia Tech all collected their 200th career coaching win.

• The surprising 49ers are 2-0, as are the hot Steelers.

• Lindsay Davenport won the championship in Indonesia in her first singles tournament since giving birth.

• Jim Thome hit his 500th home run.

STOCK DOWN

• Bill Belichick and the Patriots. Spygate, shame on you coach.

• McLaren racing was fined $100 million for its spying on Ferrari. That is not a mistake, the fine was $100 million!

• Notre Dame is 0-3 for the second time ever. It doesn't get easier with Michigan State, Purdue, UCLA, BC and USC ahead in the next five games (those teams are a combined 13-1 right now).

• Auburn lost at home to Mississippi State, one week after falling to South Florida.

• UCLA was blown out by a Utah team that came in 0-2.

• The Bengals gave up 51 points to the Browns.

• The St. Louis Cardinals have really struggled down the stretch.
