Bonds ties record

SPECIAL TO ESPN.COM

August 6, 2007 | Dick's Stock Watch provides a fast-glance review of the past week in the world of sports, charting whose stock is up and whose is down.

STOCK UP
• Barry Bonds tied Hank Aaron with home run #755. Alex Rodriguez finally hit his 500th homer, the youngest player to accomplish that feat. Then Tom Glavine earned his 300th win on Sunday night as the Mets beat the Cubs.

• The Celtics acquired Kevin Garnett from Minnesota, giving Boston a terrific trio. Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce should lead the Celtics back into the playoffs.

• A great group was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, including an emotional Michael Irvin, Thurman Thomas, Bruce Matthews Roger Wehrli and Gene Hickerson.

• Jermaine Dye has been on a real tear for the White Sox. He has 10 HR, 20 RBI and a .330 batting average in 23 games since the all-star break.

• John Isner, a tennis player ranked 416th in the world, made it all the way to the finals of the Washington, DC event. He beat Tim Henman, Benjamin Becker and Tommy Haas along the way before losing to Andy Roddick in a tight final.

• 40-year old Dara Torres, the oldest national champion in U.S. swimming history, set an American record in the 50-meter freestyle.

STOCK DOWN
• Tigers shortstop Neifi Perez was suspended 80 games for a third positive test on a banned stimulant. Meanwhile the Tigers have lost five straight games.

• Marlins pitcher Dontrelle Willis has lost his last eight decisions. He's now 7-11 with an ERA near five.

• Robby Gordon had a disagreement with NASCAR officials with his placement in Saturday's Busch Series race and was suspended for Sunday's race.

• Boxer Erik Morales announced his retirement after losing for the fifth time in six fights, in a close decision to David Diaz for the lightweight championship.
