STOCK WATCH: Fast-Glance Week in Review
July 30, 2007 | Dick's Stock Watch provides a fast-glance review of the past week in the world of sports, charting whose stock is up and whose is down.
STOCK UP
• Jon Lester of the Red Sox came back less than a year after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. He won his first start for the Red Sox and should have won his second but Tampa Bay rallied to send Saturday's game into extra innings.
• John Maine of the Mets is 12-5 with an ERA under three.
• Tom Watson won the British Senior Open for the third time in five years.
• Atlanta's Vernon Forrest won the world title at 154 pounds with a strong showing in a decision over Carlos Baldomir.
• The Phillies have won three straight and eight out of 10 to stay in the NL East and wild card races.
STOCK DOWN
• Tour de France leader Michael Rasmussen of Denmark was removed from the race for violating a team rule. Who really cares who won after all this controversy.
• The A's dropped three straight games against the Mariners, giving up a total of 25 runs in those losses.
• The Florida Marlins are 1-6 in their last seven games. They salvaged a win over the Giants Sunday.
• Andy Roddick was upset in the semifinals of the tournament in Indianapolis, losing to a Canadian ranked 92nd in the world.
