STOCK UP
The Braves have been hot, winning seven of their last eight games to stay close to the Mets in the NL East.
• The Cubs are 15-4 in their last 19 games as Lou Piniella's club is in the playoff hunt.
• The Twins have won four straight.
• Dwight Freeney of the Colts got a six-year deal worth $72 million.
• Congratulations to Mark Kelly and Kelly McGuire, who wed in South Carolina over the weekend. Mark Kelly was a Make-A-Wish kid when we met in 1992 and he is a prime example of what cancer research can do.
STOCK DOWN
• The Oakland Athletics have dropped seven in a row.
• The Knicks are $45 million in the red over the luxury tax.
• Stephen Jackson and Ron Artest were suspended for the first seven games of the 2007-08 season due to problems with the law off the court.
• Dolphins wide receiver Chris Chambers was charged with a DWI in North Carolina.
• Barry Bonds has one hit in his last 24 at-bats.
