STOCK WATCH: Fast-Glance Week in Review

July 9, 2007 | Dick's Stock Watch provides a fast-glance review of the past week in the world of sports, charting whose stock is up and whose is down.

STOCK UP
• Venus Williams won her fourth career Wimbledon title and sixth Grand Slam overall. Consider that Serena Williams has captured eight Grand Slam championships and Richard Williams and his family have a lot to be proud of. Venus beat three of the top six seeds en route to the championship.

• Roger Federer made history, matching Bjorn Borg's incredible run by winning his fifth straight Wimbledon Men's championship. Give credit to Rafael Nadal for giving Federer a tough, five-set battle. Federer has now won 11 Grand Slam singles titles and those who claim he is the best of all-time, he is certainly getting closer.

• Ken Griffey Jr. keeps moving up the home run ladder, now sixth all-time on the list (tied with Frank Robinson into Sunday, may need update)

• What a great first half of the season for Prince Fielder of the Milwaukee Brewers. He just keeps hitting home runs!

• Cubs pitcher Ted Lilly has warmed up, winning four straight decisions.

STOCK DOWN
• Tigers infielder Neifi Perez was suspended 25 games for testing positive for a banned stimulant.

• Andy Roddick fell short again at Wimbledon. He had a two-set lead and was up in the third against Frenchmen Richard Gasquet but lost in his quarterfinal match.

• It's hard to believe that Bronson Arroyo, who won 14 games last season, is 3-9. At least he got a win in his last outing.
