David Stern has to be smiling because he has an interesting match-up for the NBA Finals.
Can LeBron and the Cavaliers shock the basketball world? Or will the steady, consistent Spurs win their fourth championship in nine years?
There is excitement galore when talking about LeBron James. I feel he is the best young talent I have ever seen on the basketball court. He can take over a game; just ask the Pistons about the 48 points he put up on the board, baby!
I also love the fact that he makes his teammates better. They certainly elevated their game when they put away the Pistons. Daniel Gibson, the rookie out of Texas, had a monster game in that win. The Cavaliers will need more from the former Longhorn in this series.
The Spurs are not flashy, but they are so fundamentally sound. Gregg Popovich has the terrific trio of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili. Bruce Bowen is a top-flight defender.
San Antonio reflects the word T-E-A-M. It is an unselfish unit that has been impressive in the postseason. Beating the Suns, Nuggets and Jazz tells the story, three tough opponents.
Popovich and company deserve a lot of credit for their accomplishments. This time around, I think we will see shock city. LeBron and the Cavaliers have so much momentum after rallying from a 2-0 deficit against Detroit. The city is electrified, the passion in there and the Cavaliers will stun the world.
Mike Brown's team has bought into his defensive philosophy. LeBron has played so well, rebounding and passing, posting potential triple-double numbers. I am going with the Cavaliers in seven games in an exciting series that is sure to make Commissioner Stern very happy.
