Hoyas head South

SPECIAL TO ESPN.COM

March 25, 2007

Wow...Georgetown was down 11 points in the second half against North Carolina. The Hoyas never gave up and Jonathan Wallace gave his team new life with a trifecta that sent the game into overtime.

Then Georgetown dominated the extra time as the Tar Heels went cold. John Thompson is a rising star in the coaching profession and his team came through for its first Final Four since 1985. Yes that was the year that featured three Big East teams in the Hoyas...Villanova and St. John's.

Georgetown is in position to win the National Title and the Big East has won two of the last four Championships.

Green was brilliant in the second half while DeJuan Summers came through with a super performance.

It was a tough loss for Roy Williams and the Tar Heels. Williams was looking to join a select circle if he made his sixth Final Four. That dream will wait til next year.

Dick Vitale coached the Pistons and the University of Detroit before broadcasting ESPN's first college basketball game in December 1979. Send him a question for possible use on ESPNEWS.
