Potential No. 1 seeds

SPECIAL TO ESPN.COM

Right now, many people are talking about the No. 1 seeds as they look ahead to the big dance. The field of 65 will be announced in less than two weeks, and this is such a special time of year. March Madness, baby, is awesome with a capital A!

I see four teams currently leading the way, earning the right to capture that coveted No. 1 seed at the big dance. It is there for the taking unless they slide this week and in conference tournament play.

Ohio State, UCLA, North Carolina and Florida are, in my opinion, the teams to watch for the top seeds. Look at their resumes and they are all very strong. I know the Gators have struggled a bit with losses at Vanderbilt and LSU, but the overall body of work is impressive and speaks highly for Billy Donovan's club. Remember, Florida is in the conference that is ranked No. 1 in the RPI. My VBDI disagrees and has the ACC ahead of the SEC.

The Gators need to finish the regular season in strong fashion, and that won't be easy. There is a trip to Knoxville to face the Tennessee Volunteers, and I can't wait to go see that sea of orange and white. Bruce Pearl and Co. will be fired up for that game. Then Florida faces a Kentucky team that is battling for a higher seed in the SEC tournament.

One team coming on strong is Kansas, winners of 19 of its last 21 games. The Jayhawks have been on fire, winning by some big margins and playing very well. Kansas has wins over Florida and Boston College, plus a sweep of Kansas State. Bill Self's team could move up to a No. 1 seed if one of the other four slips.

I see my four having stronger resumes against quality competition. Look at what Ben Howland's Bruins have done, accumulating wins against Texas A&M, Kentucky, Georgia Tech, BYU, Michigan, Washington State plus a sweep of USC and Arizona. That will definitely impress the selection committee.

Unless something drastically changes, I feel Ohio State, UCLA, North Carolina and Florida will capture the top seeds on Selection Sunday.
