DICKIE V'S WEEKLY AWARDS

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jaycee Carroll, Utah State

The junior guard had 44 points and 10 rebounds vs. New Mexico State. How clutch was he? Carroll made all 15 of his free throw attempts and 12-of-16 field goal attempts in 34 minutes. Carroll then put up 28 points (11-of-19 from the field) and eight rebounds in a win over Idaho. The Aggies are now 18-7 and one key reason is Carroll.

TEAM OF THE WEEK: Georgetown

John Thompson III is doing a super job with the Hoyas. Georgetown won at Louisville (73-65) on the night the Cardinals named the court after legendary coach Danny Crum. Then the Hoyas blew out Marquette, 76-58. Watch out for this Georgetown team as the duo of Roy Hibbert and Jeff Green are dynamic.

COACH OF THE WEEK: John Beilein, West Virginia

The Mountaineers lost so much offensive firepower from last year's squad. It is the system that works and John Beilein's club showed that with an upset win over #2 UCLA.

DIAPER DANDY OF THE WEEK: D. J. Augustin, Texas

It seems like Longhorn teammate Kevin Durant gets his name in the space so often. This week it is the guard who totaled 54 points in a win over Iowa State and a loss to Texas A&M. Augustin was nine-of-13 from the floor against the Cyclones.

SHOCK OF THE WEEK: Drake over Northern Iowa

Dr. Tom Davis' club was 3-10 in Missouri Valley Conference play when it invaded Northern Iowa and handed the host squad a stunning 67-59 loss.
