SPECIAL TO ESPN.COM

January 1, 2007

TEAM OF THE WEEK: Nevada
Mark Fox's team had a big win over Gonzaga in Seattle over the weekend. Nevada also had a 20-point decision over Maine earlier in the week.

COACH OF THE WEEK: John Beilein, West Virgina
The Mountaineers lost a lot of talent from last season's squad, yet Beilein's team is a solid 11-1 this season after upsetting previously-unbeaten Connecticut, 81-71. West Virginia blew out Maryland-Eastern Shore earlier this week, 95-49.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK:Courtney Paris, Oklahoma women's team
The All-America scored 43 points and grabbed 25 rebounds in a win over nationally-ranked New Mexico.

DIAPER DANDY OF THE WEEK: Johnathan Rodriguez, Campbell
The 6-5 freshman from Miami scored 29 points in 21 minutes during a rout of Ohio Valley. Rodriguez hit 12-of-16 field goals and grabbed nine rebounds in that contest.

SHOCK OF THE WEEK: Duquesne over Boston College
It has been a tough year for Duquesne, with the violence that affected several players. Then coach Ron Everhart was hospitalized, but the team came through with a stunner at Boston College. Yes, the Eagles were without starters Jared Dudley and John Oates, but this was still an eye-opener and a great positive for Duquesne.

Dick Vitale coached the Pistons and the University of Detroit before broadcasting ESPN's first college basketball game in 1979. Send a question for Vitale for possible use on ESPNEWS.
