Phil Jackson wins 900th game

SPECIAL TO ESPN.COM

January 8, 2007 | Dick's Stock Watch provides a fast-glance review of the past week in the world of sports, charting whose stock is up and whose is down.

STOCK UP
• Phil Jackson of the Lakers won his 900th game, the fastest to reach that milestone in NBA history.

• The Patriots blew out the Jets 37-16. Next up is a game at San Diego.

• Boise State football put on quite a show in its win over Oklahoma.

• LSU's football team had an impressive win over Notre Dame.

• The Phoenix Suns are 24-3 in their last 27 games after starting the season 1-5.

• Air Force has been hot, winning 11 straight basketball games.

STOCK DOWN
• Nick Saban said he wasn't going to be the coach at Alabama. Now he is running the Crimson Tide. He should have been up front. Once he announced he wouldn't be the coach and then took the job, he came across as lying.

• Allen Iverson was fined for his negative comments about an NBA referee.

• Raja Bell was suspended one game for kicking an opponent.

• Mike Tyson is facing jail time for drug possession.

Dick Vitale coached the Pistons and the University of Detroit before broadcasting ESPN's first college basketball game in December 1979. Send him a question for possible use on ESPNEWS.
