ESPN Classic celebrates the glorious history of the New York sports scene with two days of programs highlighting some of the Big Apple's best moments. When you play in New York, you play on the world's biggest stage.

	Red Sox fans don't sit around talking about Babe Ruth or their team's impending doom.

With all of the adulation and attention comes unbelieveable pressure. If you can make it playing there you'll make it anywhere.

The most storied team in all of professional sports, the New York Yankees, resides in the Bronx. Led by such icons as Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle, the Yankees have won a record 25 World Series.

The New York Mets, a subway ride away in Queens, have won two championships since their innaugural season in 1962. The 1969 "Miracle Mets," a 100-1 longshot when the season began, claimed the team's first World Series title.

The New York Knicks, playing in the world's most famous arena, Madison Square Garden, have won two NBA titles. In one of the NBA's classic moments, injured Knicks center Willis Reed's appearance in Game 7 of the 1970 Finals inspired his team to a 113-99 rout of the Los Angeles Lakers and its first championship.

Madison Square Garden is also the home of the New York Rangers. The Rangers ended 54 years of frustration in 1994 when they claimed their fourth Stanley Cup championship.

Out on Long Island, New York Islanders won four consecutive Stanley Cup titles from 1980-83. In one of the most memorable games in NHL history, the Islanders won their first championship in a thrilling Game 6 overtime classic against the Philadelphia Flyers.

New York's football teams had their share of glory as well. The Jets, led by quarterback Joe Namath, won the 1969 Super Bowl. The Giants won Super Bowls in 1987 and 1991 led by all-everything linebacker Lawrence Taylor.
