BERLIN -- IBF and WBA super-middleweight champion Sven Ottke of Germany said on Friday he was planning to retire by the end of the year -- just one week after beating WBA title-holder Byron Mitchell of the United States. "This is definitely the end of it this year," Ottke, 35, said. "I'll box at most three more matches. Then I can imagine working with the ARD public television network or perhaps in sports marketing at Mercedes." Ottke, 35, became the first German to hold a title for two major organizations simultaneously with the close victory over Mitchell in his home town of Berlin on March 15. He has won all 30 of his professional fights after a long amateur career. Two of the judges gave Ottke a two-point advantage while the other had Mitchell four points ahead after 12 close rounds. |
