WASHINGTON -- DeMarcus "Chop Chop'' Corley successfully defended his WBO junior welterweight title, outpointing Randall Bailey in a unanimous 12-round decision Saturday night.
In a fight that drew boos from Corley's hometown crowd for its lack of activity, Corley (28-1-1, 16 KOs) prevailed on the judges' cards by scores of 116-112, 117-111 and 117-111.
"The fight went about as I expected,'' Corley said. "I don't think I gave him too much respect. I always knew what he could do with the right hand.''
Bailey (26-3, 26 KOs) said his strategy in the fight didn't work.
"I wanted him to run into my power, but that never happened,'' Bailey said.
Corley said he hopes to meet Kostya Tszyu or Ricky Hatton in his next bout. |
