Heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis may fight Vitaly Klitschko in December, Bild, Germany's largest newspaper, reported on Sunday. Bild, a weekly, reports that Klitschko's promoter Hans-Peter Kohl has reached agreement with HBO for a Dec. 7 fight date. Kohl has flown to London in hopes of sealing a deal with the Lewis camp, according to the newspaper. However, Lewis apparently would prefer to fight in February against Klitschko, the WBC No. 1 challenger, rather than the proposed Dec. 7 date. The 31-year-old Ukrainian (31-1, 30 knockouts) is the former WBO champion. Klitschko has been sidelined with a slipped disc in his back, but his trainer told Bild his fighter would be fully recovered in time for the Lewis fight. "No problem, we'll be ready," Fritz Sdunek told the newspaper. Lewis said Thursday he would give up his IBF belt rather than fight No. 1 challenger Chris Byrd, but still retains the WBC crown.
