LAS VEGAS -- Unbeaten junior lightweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. received a six-month suspended sentence and two days of house arrest in a plea bargain in a domestic violence case. District Attorney Stewart Bell said Thursday that Mayweather entered a plea bargain to two counts of domestic violence and a charge of misdemeanor battery in a separate case. Bell said the boxer was also given a $3,000 fine, counseling and 48 hours of community service. Mayweather, a 1996 Olympian and the WBC super featherweight champion, is scheduled to challenge WBC lightweight champion Jose Luis Castillo on April 20 in Las Vegas. |
