LONDON -- Lennox Lewis has ended an 11-year partnership with manager Frank Maloney less than two weeks before a rematch with WBC-IBF heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman. "I haven't spoken to Lennox in 15 weeks," Maloney said Wednesday. "He hasn't even had the decency to pick up a phone and tell me." "You learn to come and expect this from people when you create monsters," Maloney told Sky Sports television. "I think it's obvious for the world to see that he's become a monster in his behavior patterns and towards the people who have put him where he is." The British heavyweight said he had terminated the partnership with Maloney after a contract dispute. "I've got to the point where I'm self-managed now," Lewis said Tuesday in a conference call. "At different points in their careers, people have to do things for themselves. This is just a business decision." Lewis spoke from his training camp at Scotrun, Pa., where he is preparing for his challenge to Rahman on Nov. 17 at Las Vegas. Maloney also is in the United States, preparing Roman Karmazin of Russia for a WBC super welterweight title challenge to Oscar de la Hoya on Dec. 8 at Los Angeles. Lewis cited a conflict of interest that he said stemmed from Maloney's switch to Frank Warren's Sports Network company last year. Lewis and Maloney failed to agree on a contract last week. the fighter insisted money was the main reason for the split. "Frank's request for a ridiculously high amount of money meant that the only option was for our association to end," Lewis said. Want more on the big heavyweight rematch?
