ATHENS, Ga. -- Quincy Carter wasn't able to practice Thursday for No. 12 Georgia, and coach Jim Donnan said he has no intention of playing his ailing quarterback this week.
| | | Georgia's Quincy Carter will miss his first game in more than two years. | Carter threw on the side, as he did Wednesday, but his left arm was still too sore to allow him to practice.
Cory Phillips, a third-year sophomore, continued to run the offense and is expected to start Saturday's game at Kentucky.
Carter went down with a badly bruised rotator cuff in last week's victory over Vanderbilt. Earlier in the week, he couldn't even lift his non-throwing arm as high as the shoulder.
The Bulldogs added another player to their injured list. Freshman linebacker Chris Clemons suffered a stinger in his shoulder and is out indefinitely.
Defensive tackle Johnathan Sullivan (knee) and running backs DeJuan Green (turf toe) and Musa Smith (knee) won't make the trip to Lexington, Ky.
Georgia (5-1, 3-1 Southeastern Conference) practiced for 90 minutes, ending the session with special teams work.
"I'm impressed with the way we've gone about business this week," Donnan said.
